Jumbo-sizing the jumbotron

UVA announced last week that it will install a new 32′ by 57′ video screen at Scott Stadium in time for the 2009 season. The new screen, which will replace the existing 21′ by 28′ screen, costs $2.4 million. The tab, however, will go to CBS Collegiate Sports Properties, which handles the multimedia rights for UVA. Though the new jumbotron will give you a CavMan three times his current size, the University won’t be able to claim any records—the University of Texas’ “Godzillatron” still holds that prize, with a screen 134′ wide by 55′ tall—four times larger than UVA’s new board.
