The JD Allen Trio creates music that is rooted in the jazz tradition and is relentlessly contemporary, honest, and uncompromising. Driven by raw energy, tenor saxophonist and composer Allen, bassist Ian Kenselaar, and drummer Nic Cacioppo engage with spontaneity and form to create an introspective, urgent, and powerful sound infused with improvisational depth.
