TheHill.com currently projects a 10-seat spread between the Democratic majority adn Republican minority in the U.S. Senate, a number that takes into account the most recent seats projected for Democrats (Tom Udall is slated to take over for retiring New Mexico Senator Pete Domenici, a Republican.) MSNBC.com puts the balance at a 54-38 split, favoring the Democratic Party. Polls remain open in Alaska and Oregon. Minnesota Public Radio reports that comedian and Democratic candidate Al Franken leads incumbent Republican Senator Norm Coleman by seven points.
