Hate to be the bearer of bad news, folks, but it looks like Taste of China chef Peter Chang is getting ready to leave our little hamlet. Says his close personal friend Gen Lee, Chang’s last day at the acclaimed Chinese restaurant was this past Saturday.
C-VILLE reported a few weeks ago that the Albemarle Square restaurant was getting busier and busier, no doubt due in part from all the publicity. Seems Chang just couldn’t take the pressure. Lee says the restaurant was doing triple the amount of business it could reasonably do, leaving much to be desired in the way of service and food quality.
"He doesn’t want to ruin his reputation," Lee says. "Business was overwhelming."
Lee says, for now, Chang is still in town, but you’ll have to find your spicy hot pots elsewhere. Any guesses as to where he might go next?
