Summer financial reports are out: Deeds raised more money than McDonnell

In the months of July and August Democratic gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds raised more money than race frontrunner and Republican candidate Bob McDonnell.

According to the Virginia Public Access Project (VPAP), Deeds raised $3.5 million compared to McDonnell’s $2.9 million

Deeds also spent $1.8 million of that money and his ending balance is $4.3 million. McDonnell, on the other hand, spent $2 million, which gives him an ending balance of $5.8 million.

The latest Clarus Research Group, for the period of Sept. 10 through Sept. 14, shows that out of 600 registered voters, 42 percent would vote for McDonnell and 37 percent preferred Deeds. Before this poll, one from SurveyUSA had McDonnell ahead of 12 points, 54 percent against 42 percent.
