Onesty pool demolition begins

The demolition of Onesty Pool and bath house at Meade Park began today and is expected to be completed in two weeks, by Friday, October 3. The demolition marks the beginning of implementation for the Meade Park master plan.

In 2005, the Onesty pool failed to be positively assessed and was not deemed cost effective in its current conditions. A new, cost-effective pool will be built in the front of the park near Meade Avenue and Chesapeake Street, to provide greater visibility for the people who pass by the park. The city will begin construction of the new pool by fall of 2008 and expects it to be completed by mid-June 2009.

Plans for the pool include several new features, including a lap pool, water slide, lazy river and a zero-depth entry beach.
