Hoos Travel to Baltimore to Face Hopkins Saturday at 2 p.m.

Virginia lacrosse travels to Johns Hopkins Saturday to face the Blue Jays. The game will be televised by ESPNU, and faceoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Wahoos (7-1) are ranked #2 this week in both polls, and Hopkins (5-2) is ranked #11 in the USILA coaches poll, and #12 in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse poll.

Chris Bocklett leads the Hoos with 22 goals on the season, and Steele Stanwick leads the team with 32 points. Virginia leads the nation in scoring, but Hopkins’ goalie Pierce Bassett is one of the best goalies in the game.

The game will be the 6th game in the Doyle Smith Cup. Virginia is 5-0 all-time in the Smith Cup.

Smith was a team manager and statistician at Hopkins that then moved on to UVA to obtain a doctorate. While in Charlottesville he then became the first ever full-time sports information director at Virginia. He held that title for 31 years, and is the only person in history to be elected to the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame that never played lax at any level.
