Day five: Updates, shout-outs, fun facts, oh my!

So many things to share with you about bricks, so little reason to devote an entire blog post to each of them.

No. 1: We made the papers! The Richmond Times-Dispatch mentioned our sweet little rebricking on Tuesday. "The project, which is expected to be finished in about four months, will include replacing the brick walkways, adding more benchs and repairing fountains," it reports. Which segues nicely into No. 2.

No. 2: Barton Malow released a recent version of the Construction Phasing Plan today. We’ll replace this old one soon, but among the highlights of the new one: actual deadlines! Phase 2 is expected to be complete by January 17, and the deadline for the whole project is April 26.

No. 3: Today is Dave Matthews’ birthday. The local singer-songwriter turns 42 today, only 13 years after his third album, Crash, was released. Funny how that connects well to No. 4.

No. 4: Christina Luke, C-VILLE’s publisher’s assistant, says that construction crews had a run-in with the sandwich board in front of the office today. As one other C-VILLE employee went to pick it up, a crew member exited his vehicle to help the recovery of the board.

No. 5: There’s a notable cloud of dust coming from 200 block east because workers are slicing into the slab, and crews have begun demolition on 100 block east in front of CVS.

Check back later for some scintillating Brick Watch video.
