What are you working on right now?

A photographer and musician, Aaron Farrington is a man of few words and many talents. Over the years, he’s shot musicians from Devon Sproule to the North Mississippi All-Stars. |
A couple of different things. I started working with Fenton Williams, the lighting designer for Dave Matthews Band. I’m editing a feature film. And I’m doing a lot of video work, creating content for some touring acts. With the Dave Matthews Band, for example, I’m working on what appears on the onstage video screen behind the band.
Tell us about your day-to-day work life.
It’s not much of a routine. I’m shooting a lot, so some days I’m off taking photographs or film, and some days I’m up all night editing footage.
Locally, who would you like to collaborate with?
I’d like to get Matthew Farrell to help me adapt one of the books he published about Big Pharma into a film or episodic series.
What music are you listening to lately?
Pantherburn is working on a record right now with Lance Brenner, and we’re kind of in the preproduction stage. So I’ve been listening to that a lot right now, trying to figure out how it’s all going to play out.
What sports team do you root for?
The New Orleans Saints, which seems like the bandwagon right now. Which is as it should be, because they’re wonderful. I was living in New Orleans in 2003, and they were amazing. I think they started off the season 6-0…and then they didn’t make the playoffs.
Do you have any pets?
I do. A Boston terrier named Ramona. She’s 5.
Do you have a favorite building?
My house. It’s a French house, very bright on the outside.
If you could have dinner with any person, living or dead, who?
I guess it’d be my girlfriend. I like her more than I like anybody else.
Do you have a favorite hidden place?
Yeah, but I can’t tell you where it is.
What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?
Skydive.
Favorite board game?
Rummy cup. The rules aren’t interesting enough to go into, but it’s what we do on a deck in the summertime.
Who is your favorite artist outside your medium?
Since I work primarily in photo and film, I’m going to go with a musician: Phillip St. Ours, the songwriter. Bob Dylan’s not half bad either.
