Virginia NAACP files suit against Governor Kaine

The Virginia NAACP filed suit against Governor Tim Kaine yesterday in Richmond’s U.S. District Court. The lawsuit alleges that the state has not provided enough polling places for election night, just a week away, in view of the record number of new registered voters, reports the Associated Press.

Perriello RV takes off for Danville

After months of touring the district in his Ford pick-up truck, Tom Perriello, Democratic challenger for the Fifth District congressional seat, took to the campaign trail today with a bit more leg room. At around 1pm this afternoon, the “Perriello Election Express”—a brown and maroon RV—took off from the Barracks Road Shopping Center for a trip through all 22 cities and counties in the fifth district.

No glass recycling? Let’s not toast to that.

When we were informed a few months ago that our home county, Nelson, would no longer take glass at its recycling center off Rte. 151, we certainly did not feel like breaking out the bubbly. We generate more glass than any other type of recyclable. So not to have an eco-approved outlet for that stuff has resulted in some major distress.
