We may have to wait until the dust settles, but for all intents and purposes, it seems as if Tom Perriello has defeated Virgil Goode for the Fifth District congressional seat.
[UPDATED 2:17am] Just back from the Gravity Lounge, where Tom Perriello and the C-ville Dems cheered the great news tonight in Virginia.
Tom Perriello has come a long way, literally and figuratively, in the past two and a half months. While he’s racked up the mileage traveling the expansive Fifth Congressional District in his bid to unseat six-term incumbent Virgil Goode, he has also closed a 34 point gap in mid-August to a mere three points, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted this weekend with a margin of sampling error of 4 points.
The Washington Post’s “Comics Riffs” blog is reporting that Garry Trudeau has drawn a cartoon for Wednesday presuming an Obama victory.
Tomorrow is election day and the Commonwealth is still up for grabs. The latest polls reveal that Barack Obama has a single digit lead over John McCain.
