Martha Jefferson Hospital

We reported a couple of weeks ago on the updates to the plans for redeveloping the Martha Jefferson Hospital site on the corner of Locust Avenue and High Street, which still lacks a developer and needs to be sold to finance the new facility at Pantops. In a January 31 meeting with area residents, hospital spokesman Steve Bowers promised the neighbors that they wouldn’t wake up in the morning and read about a big deal going down without their knowledge. So far, he’s stayed true to his word—at a February 11 meeting with City Council, Bowers didn’t bring up much that hadn’t come up at the neighborhood meeting. The only tidbit that was clarified concerned a redevelopment advisory board consisting of reps from Council, the neighborhood and other stakeholders: Bowers said he’d like to start collecting potential names next month.
