Camelot fire ruled arson

A December 27, 2007, fire that occurred at 528 Jester Ln. in the Camelot subdivision of Albemarle County has been ruled the result of arson, according to Lee Catlin, county spokesperson. “The property owners, Donald and Barbara Smith, were not home at the time of the fire, and lost everything,” she says.

The county has ruled the fire at 528 Jester Lane in the Camelot subdivision the result of arson.

“The fire…was ruled arson after fire marshal investigators ruled out the accidental causes,” says James F. Barber, assistant chief of the county’s Department of Fire and Rescue. Last year, there were 28 felony and nine misdemeanor arrests for arson. The county Fire Marshal’s Office has a criminal investigator assigned to the Jester Lane case. A reward is offered for any such information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
