Wild ride on 29 ends in abduction, Drug charges

The shenanigans of knuckleheads Michael A. James, Lamont B. Minor and Andre Grochowski make them a rare traffic stop for Albemarle County PD- they weren’t even speeding!

Three men found fighting in a car parked on the side of Route 29 were arrested by Albemarle County Police officers on Sunday, September 24, according to an Albemarle Police Department press release. The three men—driver Andre Grochowski and his two passengers, Lamont Minor and Michael James—were arguing over money that had vanished from the car, “following a night of drug use,” says the press release.
Grochowski reportedly drove his two passengers north on Seminole Trail at “very high speeds,” and threatened the lives of both men. County police found the car at a standstill, and were approached by one of the passengers while Grochowski and another fought in the front seat of the car. Grochowski was charged with two counts of abduction for his refusal to stop the car.
James was previously arrested in May and charged with possession of cocaine and intent to distribute cocaine; he now faces a “failure to appear” charge for skipping his court date. Minor was charged last week with possession of drug paraphernalia. A preliminary hearing at the Albemarle General District Court for Grochowski was held on Monday, September 25, and continues on Thursday, October 12.
