A couple of sports-themed links, and a bit of sad news:
- Tonight is the opening night of Doctor Faustus at the Blackfriars Playhouse in Staunton. In related news, Sylvan Landesberg surely must’ve sold his soul to Mephistopheles; he notched 22 points last night in a win over a ranked Georgia Tech squad, which ups the UVA basketball team’s win-streak to six games.
- Feedback received an e-mail from a blogger from the website RunHundred.com. The site organizes songs according to beats per minute, and has a complete list that overlaps with Napster’s song catalogue (so that the blogger can earn commissions through referrals). At any rate, RunHundred.com posted what it calls the top 10 workout songs of 2009, with relevant BPM info and further lists by genre and decade. Inexplicably, the decade list leaps from 1980s to 2000s.
- Jay Reatard, who played one of the more aggressive local concerts I’ve seen at the Outback Lodge in October 2008, died yesterday morning at the age of 29, according to multiple sources. Below, a pair of videos of Reatard.
