For those of you tuning in during the PM, don’t let your dials pass a few items of note—namely, longtime WTJU General Manager Chuck Taylor’s recent retirement. For the rest of you, music news that is trying to break your heart. Namely:
- Wilco announced a round of US tour dates and picked Richmond instead of Charlottesville. We had a really, really good thing going, guys.
- For all you Pavement, er, non-completists: The Matador Records blog announced that the one-time locals will release a "best of" compilation, Quarantine the Past, on March 9. So, the pitch of Geddy Lee’s vocals will remain a mystery a while longer.
- How can we miss Trey Anastasio if he won’t go away? Yup, dude’s headed back for a February gig.
- Jesse Dukes is a fellow of many interests. When not rocking the mic as a reporter for "With Good Reason" or as a musician with the Raquellos (or answering our Open Studio questions), Dukes does a bit of creative writing. A UVA press release just announced that Dukes won first prize for poetry in the UVA Art Museum’s annual "Writer’s Eye" competition. Props!
