First Fridays, folks. There’s some unusual stuff on the circuit tonight: There’s a new space a ways down Preston Avenue called Sycamore Gallery, which is the woodworking studio of artisan carpenter Todd Leback. Hanging there is a show that looks interesting by Chris Butler, who most recently showed at Fellini’s #9. Shows at Chroma have consistently pushed the envelope, and this month’s looks no different. McGuffey member artist Bethany Pierce’s "Milieu Interieur," said to be meditations on human anatomy, takes over the main gallery with 12 suggestive paintings, including this one:
Works by Bethany Pierce at Chroma.
At the The Bridge, Anthony Restivo is setting up shop for a three-week piece of performance art and installation—he won’t leave the building for three weeks. Restivo will ask everybody who walks into the gallery a question, put it into an envelope and tack it to the wall, along with a piece of his hair that he’ll cut off.

A few shows worth checking out this weekend: At the Tea Bazaar tonight is a strong lineup that largely hails from Richmond. Headlining is Amazing Ghost, and if this song and video isn’t enough to sell this show, check your pulse.
Tonight at the Southern is Robert Jospé’s Inner Rhythm, the worldbeat band that incorporates elements of virtually every kind of energetic music known to man—the band also features the Afro-Pop vocalist, percussionist, and dancer Heather Maxwell, Jeff Decker on sax and percussion, Bob Hallahan on keyboards, Randall Pharr on bass, and percussionist Kevin Davis. That one’s presented by the Charlottesville Jazz Society and WTJU.
Inner Rhythm at the Gravity Lounge.
And, of course, for complete listings, be sure to pick up a copy of this week’s C-VILLE and have a look through our event listings—made with love, all for you.
