Here are some musical notes. Get it?
- UVA’s unstoppable conducting force—leader of the U Singers, Chamber Singers and CUSO—Michael Slon got a chance to drop the wand and get it on at the Kennedy Center with the Cornell University Glee Club. The Washington Post’s review opens thrillingly with "Throw out all stereotypes." Ironically, it ends by noting that the show concluded with "Ave Maria."
- Feedback Numero Uno, John Ruscher, posted a 2009 year-end list that’s worth a look and listen.
- Birdlips—have we told you that we love Birdlips?—posted a bunch of homemade holiday cards that they sent out during recent weeks. Cute as hell. We’re hoping for one.
- And, on a final note: On my way home from The Cinnamon Band’s midnight set on Saturday at The Southern, a buddy and I passed The Jefferson Theater, and he stopped in his tracks. "Hey," he said. "Cheap Trick is coming?" Yes, I told him. That show was announced a month ago. So, to reiterate: Cheap Trick is coming. Cheap Trick is coming. And it bears repeating:
Cheap Trick, "Dream Police"
