In honor of Tax Day, UVA’s Miller Center of Public Affairs has released a report that looks into what it means, long-term, to govern in a state of debt and deficit. The report is a collection of the recent Caplin Conference on the World Economy.
"On this Tax Day, millions of Americans are focused on their finances and asking themselves, ‘How much can I really afford to spend?’ This is a question the country needs to ask itself too," said Gerald Baliles, director of the Miller Center, in a press release.
"Increased government spending has been necessary to stabilize our economy in these tough times, but what are the long-term consequences of governing through debt and deficits? It’s a conversation we need to have. The Miller Center started that conversation with its conference and continues it with this report." Join the conversation here.
And the Tax Day fun is not over yet. The Miller Center also opened an online exhibit that shows the different approaches different U.S. Presidents made to tax policies. To take a look, click here.
