UVA Football fares well in ACC preseason ratings

Rivals.com College Football has ranked the ACC teams’ individual units in their preseason glory.

OFFENSIVE BACKFIELD:
Virginia ranks 10th out of 12 teams. The category is led by Georgia Tech followed by Virginia Tech.

RECEIVERS:
UVA is in last place. “The departures of Kevin Ogletree and Maurice Covington leave Virginia without any wide receivers who caught more than 12 passes last season,” writes Steve Megargee.

N.C. State leads the category, closely followed by Miami.

OFFENSIVE LINE:
Florida State leads, followed by Boston College. Virginia is in seventh place, preceding Miami and N.C. State.

DEFENSIVE LINE:
Virginia Teach leads the category, beating out North Carolina and Clemson. UVA is in eighth place preceded by Florida State.

LINEBACKERS:
North Carolina beats out Clemson for the top spot. UVA is tenth, preceding Duke, but losing out to Boston College.

The article also ranks the coaching staff and Virginia fairs relatively well considering the shake-ups in Al Groh’s team. UVA is ranked ninth, preceded by Duke and Maryland. Clemson, Miami and Boston College follow.
