Something getting in the way lately as you scramble from the Downtown Mall to get to Market Street Wineshop before it closes? No, not the UVA students—we’re talking about the block-of-a-fence that Third Street NE has become. You may be wondering what’s going on there, since, to the untrained eye, it doesn’t look like much has happened in the past month. It’s intended to become, in time, a brick extension of the Mall. According to city spokesman Ric Barrick, the project hit a slight utility snag but should be done in “a couple of months.” In the mean time, take a breath, be patient, and direct your scorn towards those damn UVA kids instead.
