The WTJU kerfuffle rages on; shows announced for the Jefferson

I checked in on the Southwood Youth Photography Project for this week’s column and had a heck of a time. Find out more about what local public schools and the Bridge/PAI are doing to connect students from the Southwood mobile home park, just outside of Charlottesville, to arts instruction.

The battle over programming at WTJU wages on through the week, leading up to a meeting Thursday at 5:30. Check out yesterday’s post for the most recent info, which includes an update from Marian Anderfuren, media relations director in the Department of Public Affairs, which took over operations from Student Affairs two years ago. Over at Nailgun, DJ James Ford has posted a blog entry entitled "WTJU is facing a horrible crisis." Meanwhile, the new blog WTJU in Crisis has updated with a post regarding the "WNRNification of WTJU." Ouch! Meanwhile, I’ve put in an interview request with Pavement member and former ‘TJU DJ Bob Nastanovich—will keep you posted.

Boy, has it been hot. But that doesn’t mean there has to be a dry spell at the Jefferson Theater—good joke, huh?—which announced two shows today: Just in time for WTJU’s Sunshine Daydream to potentially fall from the airwaves, the Grateful Dead revivalists of the Dark Star Orchestra will swing through in September, to be followed a week later by New Jersey’s  Titus Andronicus. That show’s nary two weeks before the Books come through. Shaping up to be a nice fall at the Jefferson.
