The Festy shapes up; Live Arts’ education director moves on

Hello, dear readers. Hope you had a lovely Memorial Day weekend. A few notes for your Tuesday:

  • Ronda Hewitt, Live Arts‘ education director, announced last week she’s moving on. Since 2007, when she started the position, she has "shepherded and guided literally hundreds of students" through theater education programs, ranging from summer camps to the Live Arts Teen Theater Ensemble, a release said. Lest the kiddies go unedumacated, Amanda McRaven will tend the flock through July 31, after which—job alert!—Live Arts is seeking a full-timer. Also coming up: the theater is announcing its new season tonight. Check back here tomorrow for a full update.
  • Also, thanks to the folks who read and commented on last week’s cover story. If the issue is still of interest to you, James Ford has written a long and thoughtful response over at Nailgun.

Free news is good news!

Nearly $1 million a year goes into the work you’re reading—covering local government, spotlighting the arts, and telling the stories no one else does. If you value that, help fund it for $10 a month (or whatever tax-deductible gift you can afford). Save the free word.
