There was something of a kerfuffle when I announced on this blog that Snoop Dogg was coming to town. I noted that Snoop, like Prince or Keith Richards, toes the fine line between joke (his name is synonymous with smoking marijuana, for example) and genius (his music is often amazing). And if last night’s very-sold-out show at the Jefferson Theater was any indication, he’s a little bit of both—a stoner savant who likes to yell "beotch," and consummate, coolly understated performer.
Feedback was on hand to capture some of the action.
Learning the "no-flash" rule the hard way. Note the sign: You can get a picture with Snoop himself for the not unreasonable price of $100.
Q*Black’s new project Ocean Black opened with melodic hip-hop over virtuosic guitar.
More than an hour elapsed between Ocean Black leaving the stage and Snoop taking it. Snoop came out just after 11pm, with three dancers, and in the nick of time.
He eventually shed his monochromatic Dickies suit, donning instead this custom UVA football jersey. Huh?
A moment of silence for Nate Dogg.
What did you think of the Snoop Dogg show?
