This afternoon a small airplane crashed into a Louisa County home close to Route 33 and Route 22. According to the Charlottesville Newsplex, the 1981 Cessna T303 Crusader twin-engine plane crashed into a nearby home located at 128 Jefferson Highway. The pilot has been pronounced dead, but has not been identified yet.
The Newsplex reports that the plane took off from Freeman Field at Louisa County Airport and was headed to Reston.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) says that Route 33 in Louisa County is closed west of the Louisa County Airport. While authorities are investigating the crash, which caused a fire, traffic is being routed onto Route 767. It is currently not known how long Route 33 will be closed, says VDOT.
