Small Bites: This week's restaurant news

Culture club
You can eat your way around the world at the Ninth Annual Festival of Cultures Saturday, May 12, from 10am to 4pm in Lee Park. Food vendors include Eastern European offerings from Balkan Bakery and Bistro, Turkish treats from Meryem’s Bakery, and Thai dishes from Monsoon Siam. Attendance is free and there’ll be plenty of entertainment of the nonedible sort too.

All Mom can eat
Mom always appreciates breakfast in bed on Mother’s Day, but for her next meal, shey’ll want something a little heartier that she doesn’t have to clean up. On Sunday, May 13, from 11am to 3pm, treat Mom to a buffet brunch at The Pointe at the Omni Hotel complete with carving stations of garlic-roasted prime rib and Black Forest honey ham and live entertainment. She can order a specialized omelet with local asparagus, dig in to peel-and-eat shrimp, or satisfy her sweet tooth with Belgian waffles or bourbon pecan pie while the kids enjoy traditional breakfast choices, burger sliders, or macaroni and cheese. The cost is $42 for adults and $21 for children ages 4 to 12 (wee ones eat for free). Reservations, which are required, can be made by calling 817-6767. The last seating is at 2pm.
