Newsplex stations, but not NBC29, switch to digital TV

The day has finally arrived. At least for some. Today, Tuesday, February 17, 2009, marks the first day WCAV CBS 19 and its sister stations, WVAW ABC 16 and WAHU FOX 27 switched their analog systems to a digital signal, despite the extended deadline, June 12.

According to the Newsplex, “the switch means if you used rabbit ears or an antenna to watch television before today you now have to use a digital converter box. Engineers worked overnight at our tower on Carter Mountain to disconnect our old analog transmitter and replace it with our new digital transmitter.”

If you have cable or satellite, not to worry. If you still need a converter box, fear not: it can be purchased at any electronics stores in the area.

Something important to remember, NBC29, "Central Virginia’s most powerful station" has not switched yet!
