Former Senator John Warner will be knighted by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The British Ambassador Sir Nigel Sheinwald presented the recognition to Warner for the former senator’s services to strengthen the UK-US relationship.
According to a press release, Warner accepted the recognition with “deepest humility.”
"It has been a privilege to have had the opportunity, sharing the responsibility with others, to maintain the credibility and vitality of the historic UK-US defence relationship, which provides leadership and incentive for other free nations to seek peace through strength,” he said.
Other recipients of honorary knighthood are Elie Wiesel, Rudy Giuliani, Bill Gates, Steven Spielberg and Colin Powell.
