Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jhumpa Lahiri makes a much-anticipated return to her master form with Roman Stories, the author’s first short story collection since 2008. Rome serves as the protagonist, not the setting, in the book’s nine searching stories, which were written in Italian and translated to English. In “The Boundary,” a family vacations in the Roman countryside. In “P’s Parties,” a husband crosses the line at a birthday gathering. And in “The Steps,” readers experience the tensions of a changing city. Lahiri discusses her work with author and poet Kiki Petrosino.
