Jefferson Theater announces new schedule [With Video]

In celebration of some new shows announced at the Jefferson, I’ve compiled a preview of your late winter/early spring in YouTube videos.

White Rabbits have apparently become very famous since the last time they were here. You may recall they opened for the Fiery Furnaces at Fry’s Spring Beach Club way back in September. Now they’re headlining the Jefferson. I raised some ire a couple of weeks ago when I suggested that Joanna Newsom couldn’t fill the 750 capacity venue, so I won’t dare to suggest that the same might be true of White Rabbits.

No, really though. They’re pretty famous, huh? That’s a video of them playing on Letterman.

The Easy Star All-Stars have become famous by reggaefying Radiohead, the Beatles and Pink Floyd. This should be a cool show.

But longtime Charlottesvillians might be most excited about the Baaba Seth’s reunion show there on March 13, the eclectic ensemble with roots so deep in the scene they were even on the Dear Charlottesville compilation that came out in ’95. They’re playing with Beleza Brazil, Morwenna Lasko and Jay Pun.

Last but not least is Lotus, the instrumental jam band from Indiana that falls somewhere between jittery dance rock and jam band. At any rate, they’ve got a wild light show and play really long songs. Here’s one of them.
