Gov. Tim Kaine announced yesterday that he will cut the state budget by about $1.3 billion and he has not ruled out layoffs.
According to the Associated Press, Kaine decided to go with a substantial cut in order to be ready if a recovery is not immediately imminent.
Earlier this month Kaine said that the cuts would be at least $700 million and $1.5 billion at the most.
UVA and PVCC both have submitted plans for 5, 10 and 15 percent cuts from their budgets.
