This morning, former Glenmore Community Association treasurer Michael Comer was sentenced to three years in federal prison by a U.S. District Court in Virginia. Comer owed nearly $1 million in unpaid taxes and received two-and-a-half times that total in unreported income prior to his 2009 arrest, and pleaded guilty to tax evasion and mail fraud in December.
Nearly one year ago, Comer pleaded guilty to embezzlement and money laundering charges in the Albemarle County Circuit Court, and received a 14-month sentence. A press release from the Department of Justice states that Comer "previously admitted that between 2004 and 2009, he devised a scheme to defraud Glenmore Associates, PBK Real Estate and Kessler Enterprises by embezzling funds from these entities and using these funds to pay himself unauthorized compensation and to pay unauthorized
personal expenses."
