Presented in partnership with the Alliance Française de Charlottesville, the program brings together a landmark work of French filmmaking with an American contemporary counterpart, tracing lines of inspiration, homage, and reinvention across time and culture. Up first: Le Samouraï, Jean-Pierre Melville’s story of precision, solitude, and moral code, screens a week ahead of Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, Jim Jarmusch’s meditative tale of a lone hitman in a modern American landscape. $11–13, 7pm.
