And the green keeps on growing during Earth Week. The Environmental Protection Agency recently announced two awards totaling more than $35,000 for nature education initiatives in Virginia. Of the total, $20,000 will go to the Rivanna Conservation Society to fund the program’s "Teacher Watershed Summit."
The EPA’s website states that the summit "provides a host of opportunities for young people to engage with the watershed through water monitoring, river paddling and stream bank cleanups." The award is the largest Environmental Education grant from EPAto Charlottesville since the grants started in 1992.
