Election Day: Ivy Precinct not as busy as this morning

"Would you like a sample ballot?" Those six words flew freely at Meriwether Lewis Elementary school late this afternoon, the polling place for the Samuel Miller District’s Ivy Precinct.

Indeed, those words were probably flying around all day, though, said one campaign worker, "I’ve never seen anything so busy as it was this morning." At 1pm, the Albemarle County Registrar reported a 25.9 percent voter turnout, which at the same time was a 7.3 percent higher turnout than in the City.

When we visited Meriwether, the parking lots were full and Duane Snow and Madison Cummings, both candidates for the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors, were occupied with greeting voters.
