Many of us are afflicted with roving eyes when it comes to houses—like not-entirely-faithful lovers, we’re always checking out somebody else’s paint job. Or patio, or Eames chair, or whatever. And then many of us are also psyched about the idea of not living with off-gassing glues and windows that waste heat. Voila: the EarthCraft tour, which lets you ogle tasty chandeliers while gathering ideas to make your own house greener.
This one’s not on the tour (it’s one we featured in Abode earlier this year), but it’s certainly green and certainly inspires envy, at least in me. Photo’s by Jim Rounsevell, who also designed the house.
You can preview the six houses that are on the tour here (watch out: slow site). EarthCraft isn’t the most rigorous set of green-building standards in the world, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction and one that a lot of local builders have signed on for.
