Cuccinelli, McDonnell attend Koch conference in Colorado

Yesterday, somewhere in Vail, Colorado—or Beaver Creek, or maybe Bachelor GulchVirginia Governor Bob McDonnell and Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli joined other invitees at a seminar titled "Understanding and Addressing Threats to American Enterprise and Prosperity."

The event is a biannual conference sponsored by David and Charles Koch, the billionaire Koch Industry executives whose political donations number in the millions to Republican officials and whose money has also heavily financed the Americans for Prosperity Foundation, the Tea Party-favored nonprofit political advocacy group. (David Koch, a former Libertarian Party candidate for Vice President, is chair of the AFP Foundation.)

The Koch brothers, whose profile in the New Yorker encouraged what now appears to be a spirited back-and-forth between Koch Industries and media outlets that cover the brothers’ political affiliations, reportedly have high hopes for Cuccinelli. After Virginia’s Attorney General filed a new lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency’s greenhouse gas policies, David Koch reportedly praised the brothers’ "investment" in Cuccinelli.
