Crews working to remove storm debris may cause delays on Route 29

The effects of this year’s unprecedented winter storms will be felt today by motorists on Route 29. The Virginia Department of Transportation announced this morning that crews will be removing fallen trees from roadways, months after a few serious snowstorms.

Lane closures will affect traffic today on Route 29 from the Albemarle-Greene County line south to Route 743 (Polo Grounds Road). According to VDOT, work will begin at Route 641 (Frays Mill Road) and crews will move south. The department encourages drivers to pay attention to road signs and crews working on the side of the roads.

Motorists can expect delays in those areas and can visit VDOT’s traffic and travel website, www.511Virginia.org for more information about the work and the status of the roads.
