Creigh Deeds’ campaign lays off staff

The dire economic times have hit close to home for Senator and gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds.

The Newsplex is reporting that Deeds’ campaign laid off "a handful" of staff members statewide. The reason: To save money for a television push directed at undecided voters. There are currently 25 staff members left working for the campaign.

Just as fundraising powerhouse Terry McAuliffe aired his first political ad in Richmond and Hampton Roads, Deeds aired 30-second TV spots in Roanoke, Richmond, Hampton Roads and Bristol.

Senator and gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds trailed the other candidates in 1Q finance reports with $728, 812.
