City council accepting applications for human rights task force

The City of Charlottesville is now accepting applications for its new Human Rights Task Force. The group will study the feasibility of a Human Rights Commission in Charlottesville.

According to a press release, the group will take ten months to “collaborate with organizations that address discriminatory practices and businesses in our community, hold public forums, provide referral services and follow-up on the outcomes of those complaints.”

In late 2012, the task force will report its findings to City Council with recommendations for further action.

Applications for the task force are due by March 1. Click here to apply.
