Charlottesville nonprofits granted $144K from CACF awards

The Charlottesville Area Community Foundation (CACF) Community Endowment has awarded non-profits with $144,000 in grants.
Some of the lucky recipients are:
–    Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail was awarded $5,000 to support 14 weeks of art classes for participants in Buckingham and Fluvanna counties;
–    Albemarle Housing Improvement Program got $10,000 to support the Emergency Home Repair program for very low-income households in Albemarle County;
–    Blue Ridge Area Food Bank’s $4,000 will be directed to the Thomas Jefferson Area Branch of BRAFB;
–    OAR – Jefferson Area Community Corrections got $2,500 for a model program about restorative justice;
–    Piedmont Council of the Arts was awarded $4,000 to support the Arts Access project;
–    Piedmont Housing Alliance received $10,000 to support the Sustainable Ownership Initiative that would help clients become homeowners;
–    The Women’s Initiative was awarded $8,000 to support conseling programs for low-income women and provide mental health services.
