Multiple Charlottesville Fire Department engines and SUVs responded to concerns over an odor and a slight haze detected inside Silverchair, the medical information publishing company in the Hardware Store building. City Fire Chief Charles Werner said that the firefighters were examining lighting and heating systems in the building, to check for overheating issues.
A call to Silverchair’s main phone number was not answered, which hopefully means that all employees are safely out of the building while the Fire Department finishes its check.
