Charlottesville community search for Morgan Harrington currently underway

A community search for Morgan Harrington is currently underway.

More than 300 volunteers showed up last night at the Cavalier Inn, where logistics of a massive search for missing Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington were discussed.

The Roanoke Times reports that search organizers from the Laura Recovery Center are expecting more than 1,000 volunteers to help sift through wooded areas around the John Paul Jones Arena, where Harrington went missing on October 17.

The search started this morning at 9am and will continue until dark. The same search will be repeated on Saturday and Sunday.

On Wednesday, Harrington’s parents held a press conference announcing the community search. They were joined by Ed Smart, father of one-time kidnapping victim Elizabeth Smart.

Both a $150,000 reward and a fund, the Find Morgan Fund, have been set up.
