Charlottesville City Council to appoint acting City Manager tomorrow

Tomorrow morning, Charlottesville City Council will assemble to appoint an acting City Manager to serve in place of longtime manager Gary O’Connell, who leaves office at the end of April to begin work as executive director of the Albemarle County Service Authority.

So, as O’Connell prepares to dive into a new role within issues like the ongoing water debate, it bears asking: Who will control the financial waters for the City of Charlottesville while a search for a permanent replacement goes on? Leave your thoughts, nominees and ideal candidates below.

Additionally, in light of the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors’ 4-2 support of Delegrate Rob Bell’s proposed amendment the school funding composite index—which could net Albemarle County Public Schools $2.6 million for Fiscal year 2012—the City Council will also discuss responses to the legislation.

Many rivers to cross: As City Manager Gary O’Connell plans his departure for the Albemarle County Service Authority, who will City Council appoint as acting City Manager?
