When the Fifth District congressional race goes to a recount, it’s looking more and more likely that Tom Perriello will be the presumed congressman-elect. He starts the morning up 648 votes, a difference of 0.2 percent of the vote.

Fifth District Congressman Virgil Goode doesn’t appear close to conceding. He issued a statement a few minutes ago that suggests he will request a recount if the lead holds for his Democratic challenger, Tom Perriello.
On Election Day, everything went smoothly in Charlottesville. Except, that is, for two laptops belonging to the City Registrar that were stolen from the Tonsler Park voting precinct sometime between 9pm on election night and 8am the next morning.

The dust has apparently settled. With a 745-vote lead, Tom Perriello, Democratic candidate for the Fifth District Congressional seat, has declared victory over Republican incumbent Virgil Goode.
With the results of the Falls Church Voter Turnout revealed, Charlottesville has come up short. Charlottesville Mayor Dave Norris conceded defeat to its Falls Church counterpart.
