Casteen talks to WaPo about community college-to-UVA transfers

In connection with a Washington Post story on students who transfer from community colleges to public universities, UVA President John Casteen spoke with College Inc. blogger Daniel de Vise about community college transfers. Since 2000, the number of community college students to transfer to UVA has increased by 100 percent, writes de Vise.

Despite the increase, Casteen tells de Vise that UVA has plenty more room for would-be community college transfer students.

"We are nowhere near capacity to enroll Virginia Community College System [VCCS] transfers," says Casteen. "For the foreseeable future, we can take all who qualify under the VCCS guarantee." Read the whole article here.
