The L.Y.A.O Comedy Showcase has made Charlottesville a more frequent option for smaller tours featuring up-and-coming comics. Nick Vatterott is one of them, and though you may not recognize him by name, chances are, you will soon. Vatterott’s comedy is quick and sharp, and he utilizes his improv experience on stage, acting out stories and playing reccurring characters with various accents. Vatterott has recently performed across North America, leaving a slew of laughs and critical acclaim in his wake, and he’s shared a stage with Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Fallon. Just before leaving his Windy City hometown for the Big Apple’s legendary comedy circuit, Vatterott was hailed as “The Funniest Man in Chicago” by Chicago Magazine.
Thursday 5/21. $10-12, 9pm. The Southern Café and Music Hall, 103 S. First St. 977-5590.
