The new year may bring resolution to the water supply plan debate.
City Council recently heard a report from engineering firm Black & Veatch about the feasibility and cost of phasing construction of the Lower Rugged Montain Dam and debated whether the county would be willing to discuss the issue. Yesterday, the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors suggested a joint meeting with the city to get down to business.
According to Charlottesville Tomorrow, Supervisor Ken Boyd asked for the joint discussion after watching Council’s meeting on TV.
He said that supervisors are willing to sit down with the city, contrary to what councilors believed, but they are not inclined to have the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) “mediate” their assembly, an offer that came from the department in late 2010.
