While it’s always good to get a celebrity endorsement, we can’t help but wonder what former attorney-turned-legal thriller mastermind John Grisham might think of Bernie Madoff’s preference for his books. A recent New York Magazine profile of the Ponzi schemer reveals that Madoff may have a penchant for crime drama, and passes some of his 150-year sentence reading works by the Charlottesville author:
"Sometimes he relaxes atop a picnic bench bolted to a concrete terrace outside his unit, his arm folded over his eyes, or else he reads. Madoff likes crime mysteries by Dean Koontz and John Grisham, which he also receives in the mail, reads avidly, and then passes along."
As MediaBistro.com points out, New York Magazine also hired a Madoff lookalike to pose with a copy of Grisham’s The Firm.
