A matter of degree

Kay Slaughter’s excellent essay encouraging women to enter politics [Opinionated, November 7] had one misstep.

She said the 1984 Democratic Convention supported a No First Strike Policy, “360 degrees from the current administration’s strategy of ‘pre-emptive’ wars.” We know what she meant, but that number is 180, not 360.

Thanks for the article on the Adrenaline Film Project [“Faster than the Speed of Film,” November 7].  You did a good job of giving us an insider’s sense of what it was like to be part of the project. I wish, however, that you had noted that the Audience Award Honorable Mention was shared by Checkout and by Art Class, by Mia Gale, Matt Denton and Marshall Buxton. I was impressed that one of the two high school teams won this award. The filmmakers worked hard under difficult conditions and produced a beautiful film that I think deserved, at least, a mention.
